Stage 2 · First-Party Agents¶
Use what's already built for you. Your license includes purpose-built agents — Researcher, Analyst, Facilitator, and more — that go beyond chat without any building.
The shift: from "Copilot answers my questions" to "Copilot has specialists I can call on." These agents are included, discoverable, and ready — the easiest possible step up from chat because there's nothing to set up.
\"What can I even do?\" — start from the app you have open
Many of these agents surface right inside the apps you already use. The Start by Product picker maps them to Teams, Excel, Copilot Chat, and more — pick your app and get three things to try right now.
When you're ready for this stage¶
Chat is muscle memory and you want more horsepower for specific jobs — deep research, data analysis, meeting facilitation, live translation — without learning to build anything.
Going the wrong way?
The specialists earn their wait on genuinely hard, multi-source asks. If you're invoking Researcher for a fact Chat answers in one line, you've overshot — drop back to Chat.
What you need¶
- A Microsoft 365 Copilot license (the same one from Stage 1).
- Access to the M365 Copilot app and the Agent Store / in-app agent surfaces.
- A real task that matches one of the included agents.
Start here — if you only do three things¶
You're probably paying for specialists you've never opened. Learn the roster, switch on the one that pays you back passively, then put the showcase agent to work.

Borrow, don't build
The Agents in Microsoft 365 hub is the roster source of truth — it lists each included agent and what it does, and it's kept current as Microsoft adds and graduates agents. Link to it rather than re-documenting the lineup.

Security at this stage
The same Microsoft 365 boundary and your existing permissions apply — a first-party agent never surfaces what you couldn't already open. Admins decide which agents are allowed from the Microsoft 365 admin center → Integrated apps. See the full picture in Security & Governance.
Where this leads¶
Reaching for two or three specialists a week? You've outgrown calling one agent at a time. The next question is whether Copilot can run a whole task for you, not just one step — that's Cowork.
